Article summary

Section 8. ARFX Calibration Screen

The calibration screen is for our base ARFX cameras. There is not much here to write home about.

The Calibration screen can be activated when running a scene by pressing the Tab or Top Face Button on gamepad. Once activated, you will see two important elements: the crosshairs and the calibration tracker indicator.

Section 8.1 The Crosshairs

Shown as green in normal ARFX and red in Multiscreen, the crosshairs are drawn exactly at the middle of the screen and are your calibration target. It is important to get your calibration tracker as close to this point as possible, ideally right up against it. Depending on your tracker however, the point at which you must align the tracker to is different for each hardware manufacturer. Please refer to their documentation to find out this information.

Section 8.2 The Calibration Tracker Indicator

The little green indicator is not just for indicating the orientation of your calibration tracker!

How ARFX is calibrated depends entirely on how your calibration tracker is oriented, and this drawn wireframe indicator is supposed to help orient it.

The indicator is aimed straight at the screen. Notice the inner triangle as this indicates cb the up axis of the screen you are calibrating against.

The red arrow indicates that the Z-axis line is longer. When calibrating it is fine for this line to not be aligned with the center of the screen as it will realign itself after calibration.

Rotating the tracker will show the longer Z-axis line that pierces through the center of the indicator. *The longer line is the forward axis (or +Z-axis) and is the side that, after calibration, faces away from your physical screen.*
